PRIMARY AND RELATED DISCIPLINES

Primary discipline: Pharmacy, Chemistry.

Related disciplines: Biology, Biological Medicine

YEARS OF STUDY, DEGREE GRANTING AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

4 years with a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy Science.

Minimum credit requirements: 160 credits for in-class learning, and 8 credits for extracurricular activities. In addition, the students are required to complete the military training, pass the national CET-4 exam, and meet the National Standard for College Students’ Physique Health before graduation.

SUB-BRANCHING SCHEME

Sub-branching time: at the end of the first academic year.
Specialty directions of distribution: Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Engineering.

Specialty plan of distribution: In principle, above the two majors are divided into half of the total number of students enrolled in the pharmacy class in that year.
Scheme of distribution: follow the principles of students voluntarily choosing and school selection.

1. Students apply for the specialty according to individual interest at the end of the first semester for preliminarily choosing.

2. The school confirms the student’s specialties according to their applications. If applicants of one specialty exceed the planned number, then the applicants are sorted according to their compulsory course credits and average scores in first academic year, those who ranking beyond the scheme are adjusted to another specialty. The students whose score ranking exceed the scheduled will be adjusted to other specialty.

BASIC COURSES FOR THE PRIMARY DISCIPLINE

Introduction to Pharmacy, Cell Biology, Molecular biology, Human Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, etc.

PROFESSIONAL CORE COURSES FOR THE PRIMARY DISCIPLINE

Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology, Natural Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Spectra Analysis, Pharmaceutical Botany, Pharmaceutical Affairs Management, etc.

PRACTICE TRAINING

Main practice training include: pharmaceutical field practice, hospital and pharmaceutical factory practice, graduation thesis (design), social practice, etc. Specific requirements see “COURSE SELECTION REQUIREMENTS”.

COURSE SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

A. The course module Settings

The courses include 3 modules: general education courses, general platform courses and specialized courses. Among them:

General education curriculum module includes: public course for 24 credits (ideological and political theory course 13 credits, Military Theory 1 credit, College English 8 credits, and Physical Education 2 credits), general core courses and general elective courses each have 6 credits.

General platform courses and specialized courses both set corresponding compulsory and optional courses according to their specialty characteristics.

B. Requirements of optional courses in each module

Medical students majoring in general education are limited to 6 credits in 4 categories: natural science and technology, world civilization, society and art, and cultural inheritance

The selection requirements of general core courses are natural science and technology, world civilization, society and art, and cultural inheritance, medical students must choose 6 credits courses in 4 course modules (must not repeat in the same course module).

In general optional course, medical students can freely choose 6 credits within whole university optional courses; the course categories are not limited.

Classification teaching method is carried out in English courses, which include a 4 credits compulsory course and a 4 credits optional course. The students are required to take part in the English intensive training summer camp in summer session of their first academic year; this is a compulsory part. Public English courses include three parts: they are theoretical course, practice course and self-study. Students must choose all the three parts and complete the related teaching requirements to obtain corresponding credit. Students must take Public Debate as optional course before taking English Debate.

Physical Education is a compulsory course in semester 1 to 4. In semester 5 to 8, the Special Education of P.E. do not set credit, of which it is limited optional course in 5 and 6 semester, and is freedom optional course in 7 and 8 semester.

In specialty optional course module, students are required to complete 14 credits, which is the minimum credit requirements, students can choose more courses on their own. The recommended course selection scheme is as follows: choose either Medical Practical Software (SPSS) or Pharmacoeconomics for 1.5 credits; choose Introduction to Clinical Medicine, 3 credits; choose one of Pathophysiology, Chemical Pharmaceutical Technology and Drug Marketing for 2 credits; choose other optional courses and complete the remaining 7.5 credits.

C. The explanations and requirements of Centralized Practical Teaching

The main practical settings of this specialty include: pharmaceutical field practice, hospital and pharmaceutical factory practice, graduation thesis (design), etc. Among them, pharmaceutical field practice and hospital and pharmaceutical factory practice are planned to complete in the fourth and the sixth semester, respectively.

Encourage students to participate in practical activity like overseas short-term exchanges, which based on “summer camp”.

D. The requirements about extracurricular 8 credits are performed according to the arrangements of University Students’ Affairs Division.
